Clément Fournier, from Ste-Sophie de Lévrard, has grown up on a farm in this municipality. He likes everything that concerns agriculture, Mr. Fournier has started to sculpt at his retirement, around 1984, by passion but most of all because he was bored. He wanted to transmit the quebecer heritage through his creation, he has sculted more than fifty works all differents from one to the other.

He doesn't consider sculpture as a job. Unlike that, for him, it's a passion. He has decided not to sell his works, because they have too much value for him. Anyway, his masterpieces don't have a price! Clément spends lots of time in his workshop, he has to be very patient, because extreme precision is required. He takes his inspiration in the farmer job that he has practised, in the stories passed down by his ancestors and from the books that explain how to create a sculpture with white wood. It takes him around 30 hours for each horse : he draws it, he cuts it with a saw and finally he carves it.

When he carves, it reminds him of his youth while everything was working with horses. Of course his little works in wood are immobile, but in an other way each of them reminds him a moment of his farmer life. He wants to transmit to today's youth what was happening in his time. He hopes that his work will go in a museum, but only after he is dead. He has already realized 4 private viewing between 1994 and 1997, maybe have you have already seen his work.
